Community Involvement

Hearthside Bank takes pride in our community. This dedication to local culture manifests itself through Hearthside Bank's involvement in community and charitable activities.

Congratulations goes out to Ron Frazier, Downtown Harlan VP/RB for being chosen as the Volunteer of the Year for 2019 by the Harlan County Chamber of Commerce. This award speaks volumes of the many clubs and activities that Ron is associated with. Our Hearthside Bank Family is very proud of Ron!

American Cancer Society

"The American Cancer Society Relay for Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated." - American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life is American Cancer Society's signature fund raising activity. It offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is to have a representative on the track at all times. Relays are an overnight event lasting up to 12 hours.

Hearthside Bank has played a tremendous role in Bell County's Relay for Life by allowing numerous staff members to serve on the committee and being one of the top fund raising teams. We also participate in the Claiborne County Relay for Life. Cancer has touched many in our Hearthside Bank family and we are committed to helping find a cure for this devastating disease.

March of Dimes

The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs for research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies. In 2003, the March of Dimes launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth. Hearthside Bank contributes annually to the March of Dimes and volunteers its time through fundraising efforts. For more information visit the March of Dimes.

Formed in the late 1960's, ROHO was created by young visionaries who wished to continue serving Middlesboro and the surrounding communities after they reached the age limit of retirement (39 years old) from the Junior Chamber of Commerce Club . ROHO has become one of the driving forces in the development of Middlesboro Kentucky.

ROHO has an annual year long fund raising event called ROHO Fishing Derby. It is held at the 33 Bridge Marina during the first weekend in May. The proceeds from this event go to needy children from the tri state area. During the first week of December, each child gets to travel to Middleboro's Wal-Mart and spend $110 on clothing and $40 on toys. Each child is accompanied by an adult volunteer that assists the child while he or she shops. Many of Hearthside Bank's employees are members of ROHO.

Repair Affair

Repair Affair is Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency's annual spring home maintenance event. This program utilizes volunteer labor and donated materials to help the elderly and disabled homeowners repair and perform annual maintenance to their property.

Volunteers with Repair Affair are assigned to a specific home and have specific jobs based on their ability. Repair Affair accepts volunteers from all backgrounds and do not require any specific skills. The only requirement is a willingness to work hand-in-hand in order to help those who are less fortunate.

Some of the maintenance needs that are encountered include: replacing entry doors, hanging or patching gutters, lock replacement, handrails, porch repair/replacement, painting, etc. There is also the need for grass cutting, hedge trimming, and weeding. The list is endless, the need is great, but the reward is unparalleled.

Hearthside Bank is a yearly contributor to this program. We have teams that participate in both the Bell County and Harlan County. For more information on this program visit Repair Affair.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Their mission is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. To accomplish these goals, they invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

Today, Habitat for Humanity has built over 400,000 decent, affordable houses and served more than 2 million people around the world.

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. For more information on this program visit

Hearthside Bank is deeply committed to Habitat for Humanity in all of our markets, particularly Claiborne County, TN. Also, in our Campbell County market, our employees donate their time and expertise to give free appraisals of the homes.
